Best backup solution?

I currently have a 1TB external HD which I use as a backup however I'm worried that relying on just 1 drive isn't the best move!

I'm looking for recommendations on a NAS that would backup to 2 HD's at the same time (RAID 1)

Any suggestions/experiences?

The best backup solution is to back your data up to two external hard drives every week and store them both in different locations to your computer in fireproof safes. More realistically, in your position I'd go for a RAID setup on just two drives and continue backing up weekly to the external drive and keeping it somewhere separate to the computer. That way you have constant redundancy in the computer itself if a drive fails, and a backup that's no more than 7 days out of date if something more unfortunate happens. Hope for the best, plan for the worst. ;)

from my very limited knowledge in raid setups (i read through the wikipedia article about a week ago) i would say that if your really paranoid about the drives failing, then get two more HDD's and put them in raid 6. that way, if one drive fails, you will be able to recover any data that was on it, and any hard drives you add will be for data storage, rather than being used for protection methods

feel free to rip this idea to shreds though guys, because i literally know what wiki has told me, and we all know how reliable wiki is

How much valuable data can people really have. Music, photos, a few docs. Is it really worth spending so much cash to back it all up?

How much data can the photo album possibly take up for the average person.
