OK so let's hear about your "cheap motoring" experiences, there's nothing better than buying a cheap old heap and then having it go on forever.

I'll start:-

S Reg Mondeo Estate, paid £800 for it and I've owned for 3 years the only money I've spent on it was £100 for two new front tyres, never any problems getting through the MOT.

It's now done approx 140K and apart from being a little rusty here and there is rock solid, it's so nice to have a car that you don't give a stuff about!

Love it!

Years ago, When sorting some issues with my old Rover Coupe, I bought a £100 1.6 MK4 Escort, it was so trouble free, I ended up keeping it for over a year.

In that time, I replaced two tyres by getting two steels from the scrap yard with nearly new tyres on them at £5 each.

It took some serious abuse, and just kept going.

W124 E-classes.

Had 2 of them, both free with a combined mileage of near on half a million. Both excellent cars, gearbox's change(d) smoothly, engines start first time every time, everything works(ed).

My mercedes 190e 2.6. Bought it in june or something for £460

Nothing really gone too wrong yet. Few simple fixes.
Spent £20 on new wheel bearings
and £50 on a water pump as the old one was noisy.

Been very good so far, crap on fuel. But I enjoy driving it.
