Bonjour all,

I'm sure we are all aware of the lameness of the official xbox play and charge kit, presumably due to the cheapo rechargeable batteries inside.

My play and charge is pretty much finished now, so what is a good solution for the wireless controller?

I assume I can't chuck some rechargeable AA's in the standard battery pack u get with the machine and charge with the play and charge lead right?

Happy to hear you suggestions for getting the most from my battery life... Maybe a reputable third party solution?

Any help appreciated!

Re-chargable AAs, and a good charger are your best bet. They last much longer than the play and charge, as I used to own one, but switched a few years ago.

You can't recharge using the lead, and if you get a decent charger, you won't want to.

I'm using a mix of Vapex 3000mAh and Energizer 2450mAh, but my Energizers are on the way out from many cycles in an 18 minute charger.

These days I have a Powerex MAHA MH-C9000 (£50 worth) but I only ever use re-chargeable batteries, so I thought it worth the out lay. I'll be replacing my batteries with Sanyo Eneloops as they wear out, as they seem to have among the best reputation and are easy to get.

Eneloop batteries are fantastic. They don't hold as much charge as some batteries, but their advantage is that they don't lose much charge when not in use. As a result of this they're always good to go, even if you haven't switched on the 360 for a few weeks. You can also store ready charged spares, which again will be ready to go whenever you need them (iirc they only lose 25% of their charge over a three year time period which is excellent)

I've been using eneloops in every battery powered item i own for about a year now. I reckon another couple of recharges and i'll have 'made my money back' if you see what i mean.
