I know there are loads of threads on the Billion 7800N and I've tried looking through them, but couldn't easily find the answer to this.

So which is the best firmware to use? The latest one or is there an older one that people prefer?

Just set mine up today and I think the firmware is 10.6a.
Does updating the firmware reset all of the settings?

Thanks.

There is a 1.06e firmware available, but for some reason Billion have not make the link to it publically available. I installed it to see if it fixed a specific SNMP issue, but it didn't.

I've managed to narrow the issue down even further.
It only seems to occur when I have the web interface open in Firefox and have it as a tab that loads automatically when I start Firefox.
If I open it after Firefox has loaded it seems ok.

That said it doesn't seem to sync any faster than my Thomson 585v6 or NetGear DG834GT. Not sure if it holds the connection any better though.

Tbh not liking my billion much!
1.06d firmware, phyr (download and upload enabled) and I get 43 attenuation which gives me a download speed of around 6MB.

On my sky supplied sagem router i get 38 attenuation and 8-9MB :(

Will be trying the new firmware once it becomes available for sure.
