yes i know its an ancient skt A but im keeping it till games are utilizing the latest hardware :)
i've always clocked mine for gaming and feel its time to fit a waterloop. reasoning it'll be good for stability at higher clocks, quieter, hopefully transferrable...ish to an upgrade rig, and a bit of bling to look at.
been scanning round for the most efficient blocks on the XP3000's and a Swiftech Storm seems the best bet for the CPU due to its lack of heatspreader.
Any seasoned Nforce2 clockers got any recommendations?

not sure on water cooling but if your interested in air cooling then i recommend the gigabyte g-power pro, its the best your gonna get for socket A UNLESS you have mounting holes in your board, thats when the thermaltake Big Typhoon takes over.

all depends on if you have mounting holes or not.
water i would personally stay away from due to its high maintainance and risk of leaks etc.

I've used a BeCooling SlitEdge on socketA and a Little River WhiteWater. So long as you're using a mobo with the four holes around the socket, you really can use pretty much any socketA block but you should buy a block that will be able to be used with newer gear like S939 and S775. I'm yet to see a block that works with AM2

While noting the "personally" in your reply, I challenge you to prove either statement.

High Maintenance: one of my two systems hasn't been touched for two years and the other one is untouched since it was built a few months ago. No re-filling, no cleaning, nothing.

Risk of leaks: tiny risk of leaks if the system is properly built and tested. Like anything, it's down to the human layer. Do it carefully and there is no risk. Take shortcuts and there is a big risk.

i did'nt want to get involved in the issue of "to watercool or not". thats a decision to take individually. the reasons of stability, noise, build satisfaction and yes, show value are all valid reasons to take the plunge so to speak.
i have at the moment got a gigabyte-pro. have to say its cooling performance is certainly exceptional...... at the expense of a howling banshee at max chat.
i wanted to choose a multiplatform block to facilate ease of upgrade, hence my wanting a swiftech storm. just wandered if anyone had used such a block and could state with authority its effectivness on a non heat spreader type cpu.

ah, can honestly say i've not noticed if my mobo has 4 holes or not, too dark to see it now!
its an Abit AN7 if anyones in the know.

If you use a socket A system , why bother watercooling? I used to use a coolermaster hyper6+ and found my temps to be very low with very little noise - you can pick them up quite cheap on flea'bay these days...

Just a thought really..... :p

Sorry plus the xp3000 doesnt clock that high from what i can remember, could be a waste of money imho
