Hi everyone.

I've been asked to develop a website for a friend. I haven't developed one in a while so I thought I'd ask for some advice.

Their main site will simply be a blog with a few static pages linked to it. There will be multiple authors of the blog and it would be good if each one could have a profile page. The blog will probably be quite photo heavy, with an average of one photo per blog post. The bloggers are PC literate enough to use standard forum software but don't know any HTML/CSS. The blog will be backed up with a forum.

So I have two questions:

1) Is Wordpress still the daddy when it comes to blogging software? How easy is it embed and manage photos in posts? Any decent plug-ins worth looking at?

2) For a forum with ~30 members, is PhpBB still the best software?

Thanks. :)

I use wordpress of quite a few of my sites, love the functionality.

I use vBulletin for forum software which is the best of the best but it does have a price tag on it. Other than that, for a free solution, use phpBB.

Yeah, I use Wordpress at the moment and love it. Thanks for the forum suggestions, I'll check them out.

Wordpress by a mile. Very very adaptable and can be made to run much more than a simple blog if needs be!

I personally prefer invision power board to vB but neither is free, phpBB is the best one without stumping up any cash.

Wordpress is by far the best publishing platform out there, though its code base is a horrendous mess, which is ironic, considering their Code is poetry slogan :/
