Best board for a non overclocker?

I'll be building a new PC in the next couple of weeks, but I am a bit stuck on the motherboard side of things. I've built a couple of machines with the P5B board and they seem quite solid. However they are fairly expensive and I don't want to shell out extra when I won't be overclocking. I'm currently looking at the Gigabyte S3. Seems cheap and will do what I want basically. All I require is that it is cheap, reliable and won't have any compatability issues with an 1950 Pro, 2GB of 5300 Geil and a C2D 6300. Is the S3 worth going for or is there any other boards I should consider?

There are two versions of the S3:

Do you mean Gigabyte GA_965P_S3?

This is only £10 quid cheaper than the DS3

Get the DS3.

If you meant the Gigabyte GA_945PL_S3 then this is a good mobo if you dont want to overclock.

The 965 chipset S3 would be best because it is a bit quicker & has more features :

The advantage of this board is that it overclocks well if you ever decide you want to, but this ability adds almost nothing to the price. So if you don't ever want to O/C then you haven't wasted any money.

If you may possibly want a mild O/C in future then this is worth considering:

The advantage of this board is that MSI boards tend to be particularly compatible & easy to set up 'out of the box' they tend to have stable bios & few memory problems.

Finally, if you are certain you never want to O/C in any way, shape or form & want a decent, reliable board with decent features, these may be just right to save some money :

Hope this info helps.

Thanks guys. Seems the 965 S3 is probably the way forward. I'm not planning to overclock at the moment but it may happen in a year or so. depending on how performance goes.
