They fixed the purple trailing issue quite a few months ago.All are 1080p screens
All are 144hz
All but one is TN
The Samsung VA will have better colours, but that model has purple trailing.
Yeah I know they're all identicial spec wise, but I thought just maybe one would be the obvious choice lol
The Samsung was on offer at £219 a few days ago but I missed that![]()
I've previously owned the non-freesync version of the Iiyama screen and was really happy with it.
I would only consider the Iiyama or Samsung. Purely for gaming, the Samsung perhaps wins as its the only one with a strobing backlight.
Where was it on offer for £219?
What are your reasons for only considering those two monitors and not the others though?
Am I allowed to say the shop name?
Definitely an option although I've never owned any products from that brand. Do they have a good reputation?
I have the Samsung monitor. Can confirm that it isn't noticeable in any games I have played recently (CSGO, PUBG). You can only see it in very very specific images, with specific settings on the monitor. I too was very hesitant when I bought mine thinking it would ruin the image, which is why I bought mine from somewhere with a great returns policy, but I am surprised at how good it is overall. It really is an overblown issue.I've read a few comments from owners of the samsung 144hz va, they have improved it, but it's not fixed, and also brings in orange/blue trailing now.
You could probably say it without saying it, like how a lot of people say 'the rainforest' when talking about a certain large online only shop. Speaking of deals, just a few days ago the Samsung monitor was on sale for £199.99, HUKD had the link.
I've chosen those two monitors specifically because of reviews and various opinions I've read
This is a very in-depth and positive review of the Iiyama monitor:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcMf904NDDk
And another positive review of the Samsung:
https://pcmonitors.info/reviews/samsung-c24fg70/
Basically, the Iiyama is the best of the TN monitors, and the Samsung is subjectively best overall. The Iiyama and Samsung are also both newer, whereas the Acer, AOC and Asus monitors are a few years old now. All of the TN panels you linked have bad picture quality out of the box, and so require calibration. Even when they are all calibrated the Iiyama is the best TN monitor. The Samsung comes calibrated from the factory and so looks good on first-use.
For me, best bargain here is the Iiyama - best TN and for a great price.
Best overall - The Samsung, much better colours than any of the other monitors (Iiyama included) and backlight strobing makes gameplay a lot more responsive.
If you have any specific questions about the Samsung monitor, I would be happy to answer them.
Iiyama are really good monitors. I won't say they are on par with Dell but they are quite close. Both myself and a friend had the 24" 144Mhz model and never an issue, well specked and really was sad to see it go. I traded up to a Dell u2515 as I stopped playing as many FPS.
didn't want to include LG in this one no?![]()
I think you need to talk to OCuk's website team, as the LG monitor you are talking about only appears for me when I type "LG 144Hz" into the search box. It doesn't appear alongside the lg 34uc79g when i sort 144hz monitors by manufacturer to lg (which is how i imagine most would find it).didn't want to include LG in this one no?![]()
That makes sense, some brands are just no brainers when it comes to tech, good way to put it!
I looked at both of those reviews and it's made the decision quite tough but based on the fact that the Samsung is quite new, has a curve, much better colours and I have many Samsung products I will most likely go for that.
Although the Iiyama is a great choice too from what everyone has said.
What games do you mainly play with the Samsung monitor? I'm getting into CS:GO/Battlefield 3/4 and definitely want to get Player Unknown Battlegrounds & Overwatch so I want a good setup for those titles.
That's good to know, I think the Samsung looks slightly better but Im going to wait a bit to see if it goes on offer again at £219 (I think).
Thanks for the information/opinions everyone, much appreciated as always!
I play PUBG a lot with it, aswell as CSGO. Particularly for CSGO, the strobing backlight makes everything a lot more responsive. The upgrade to 144hz is very noticable over 60hz, but then the strobing backlight makes it even more responsive. I plan to keep my monitor for a few years, so I wanted one that was a clear step-up from my old TN monitor in all areas. The other monitors I mentioned were a step-up in all areas apart from colour, so that's what decided it for me. But in the end, any of the 3 monitors would be great. Maybe the LG rep can somehow sway you with a special offer, let's see
There is a £100 off code for the LG ultrawide (https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...-1ms-144hz-gaming-monitor-with-ocuk.18787700/) but not for that 24in monitor.
i was more eluding to the 24GM79G which is 24", 1ms 144hz @ £219.95

Does the LG24GM79G 144hz supplied by OCUK come with a UK power plug. Also does anyone have any experience/reviews of this monitor?
