looking for a new cpu for my server build. will need it to handle a good amount of transcodes but i need to keep the cost down. so any cpu for around £100

best budget cpu for transcoding

Couple of weeks and you might manage to pick up an earlier i7 with 4 core and 8 threads for around £100. There was a 3770k went for around £130 earlier in MM on here. There are bound to be other options too though, but I have been using my 4770k for the last 3 years for encoding HD video with enough success.

I would say wait a few weeks,with the Ryzen launch hopefully it will drop the prices of some older Core i7 CPUs.
