Best budget tablet?

Hi

what screen size, resolution and operating system?

Chinese tablet then onda v975w but requires some tinkering with to work correctly

there is also the linx 10" arguably more reliable, uk company i think, but screen resolution is not the best but usable nonetheless.

there are few android tablets but those i listed are windows 8 full pc version.

for android there are many, tesco hudl 2 and some older samsung tablet

It's all dependant on the size you want. Have a wander in to a High Street retailer and try some out.
Personally I think 8" is the perfect fit. 7" is a little small for general use and 10" is on the heavy side.

The next question is which OS will you get on with the most. This causes lots of arguments, but it just comes down to personal preference. I prefer Windows tablets as I have 2 Windows PC's and a Windows Phone so it fits seamlessly in to my ecosystem.

Here's my recommendations:

Android:
7" Nexus (2013)
8" Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.0
8" Tesco Hudl 2

Windows:
8" Linx
10" Linx

iOS:
8" iPad Mini (2nd hand if you want it within budget)

After going (full) Windows there is no way I'd go back to any other OS on a tablet but your better off putting the money together for a toshiba or dell - the Linx ones are ok but screen is a bit dismal and battery life in mixed use is about 6-7 hours on the 8" which in itself is ok if a bit short of the better known brands but it runs the battery down 3-5x faster in standby than those other brands which could be a bigger issue.

Android wise you can't really go far wrong with the Nexus or Galaxy ones.

I thought I lost my dell venue pro at the weekend and was looking to replace it. I couldnt bring myself to look anywhere else but windows tablets.
The DVP is very well made only issue is no HDMI if thats not an issue I would recommend one. Can pick up a refurb 64gb for £149.99 on the bay at the moment.

I'm hoping with the next generation they build on both the hardware and software side compared to the DVP, they are brilliant bits of kit but a better range of USB, video out and charging options wouldn't go amiss and while I mostly use the full desktop a little better tablet style integration at OS level would be nice, it is a bit lacking at app level compared to android or IOS though I find the desktop equivalents of most programs more than usable - some areas though just aren't covered by desktop programs as there has never been the needs for those capabilities on a PC.

I have a DVP 8" - definitely recommended for £150. The only reason I recommended the Linx tablets was budget.

Hudl 2 a lot of power and good specs for the money. If you have any clubcard points you can double up, get it.

Get Textmaker office apps and a keyboard and it's a mine laptop.

What are peoples thoughts on the Linx 7/8 tablet?

I'm looking at both right now, the 7" is £50+ while the 8" is £100, is it really worth spending the extra £50 for one more inch? Thinking about getting this for my Mum as well.
