I've just started looking for a replacement camera for my old point and shoot (canon coolpix 2500).
Budget: £100 (could stretch to £150 for something very special)
My requirements:
- Very good lense quality (not so fussed about the amount of pixels, I suppose at least 3MP)
- Video feature with sound that can take at least 1mins worth of video at one time at 640x480 with good quality.
- Pocket size
- Own rechargeable battery
- Ideally optical zoom
I dont need anything uber fancy, There is a Canon 350D in the house for the times I feel creative, I'm just looking for a point and shoot that will give good quality images. I mostly take pictures at car shows, nights out, holidays - for internet use mostly.
A bit of research uncovered the Samsung A40 which seems to tick a lot of the boxes.. http://www.samsungcamera.co.uk/product/pro_view.asp?pro_uid=496&cat_uid=11&tabmenu=2#tabs
£100, 4MP, 2" LCD, 640x480 vids with sound for as long as mem card can take, Optical zoom.
Only thing is that it doesn't have its own rechargeable battery but I can get some decent AA rechargeables so it's not that much of a hassle. Probably a good thing as I left my battery at home last time I went away and couldnt take any pics!
It's a fair upgrade to my old camera. Is there anything else out there that can compete?
Cheers
Mark
