Best Camera Under £500

As per title. I am looking at buying a new camera for Christmas to replace my Olympus C8080WZ. Can anyone recommend a descent camera for this pricerange or am I better off with the Olypus I've got and save up for a descent DSLR + kit.

EDIT : Found a EOS 400D for £480incl + delivery. Anything better value than this ?

I have a 20D and a 400D, The 400D is very good value for money, can be had for £496 with the lens kit, plus you can get 5% back if you use an egg card to buy it.
