Best card for ~£150

Thanks to the advice of guys here, I have now replaced my old motherboard and processor with a ASRock 939 Dual Series and a 3800+ Dual core.

Next on the shopping list is graphics!

So, with a budget of £150 what is best. I was suggested by someone here that a X850XT would be the best, but having looked at benchmarks on Toms Hardware, it looks to me like it is generally slower than most of Nvidia's 6800 series?

Tom's is notoriously biased. Check a new review, especially after the new opengl drivers and you may find the story is somewhat different.

Current best card for the price is either x850xt or 7600GT

x850xt's are faster than the 6800 series for most games. OpenGL games (Particularly Doom 3) run a lot faster on Nvidia cards but on the whole the x850xt'll kick the 6800 down.

The new 7600GT will just about beat an X850XT PE in pretty much any benchmark. £146 on overclockers, and I believe that includes Serious Sam 2 (Leadtek one).

my x850xt pe is GREAT, all stock and get 100fps constant in cs:source and such like =)
