Im upgrading soon and was wondering what the best card i can get for £200? I dont use it for anything other then gaming (Skyrim,BF3 mainly) and want some decent FPS on ultra.Right now i have an iceQ 1gb 5670 which is ok on med/high most of the time but sometimes have FPS drops to below 30 which is annoying :(

Ahh your a bit mean asking your poor old 5670 to play those games without stuttering. You might want to wait until end of Feb, AMD have some new 28nm 7000 series cards coming out but that HIS 6950 2Gb is hard to beat at the moment.

As above if you can save up another £100 to £150 to afford the 7950 at the end of Feb then do that. What PSU do you have by the way? If you can't wait then the card I linked is the best for the £200 mark unless you buy used.

Got a 850w power supply, yeah i was looking at that one and the 560ti 2gb but didnt know which was better but cant really justify £300-350 for a 7950 as much as i would like to so long as i have a solid 40+ fps im happy

Or wait for the GTX 660 :D

Hopefully £250ish

Certainly £250 is more reasonable than £350 ;)

However at the back of my mind always is that a PS3/360 can be had for £250 or less, these days.

I know it's old news, but since so many games are basically just 360 ports, what do you get from spending massive amounts on high-end gfx cards? 360 ports at ultra high resolution? Multi-monitor 360 ports? Higher frame-rate 360 ports?

:p

2 x 5870's in crossfire (they go for around £90 on the MM) they would be good (if the games you play support crossfire)

For a single card solution 6950 or 560 Ti (2gb versions)

I have the HIS 6950 and its a great card. It's completely silent as well.. Runs Skyrim and BF3 at 1080p max settings no problems. What cpu are you using ?

Got a phenom 2 x4 840 atm overclocked cant remember speed offhand (as not on it atm) was gonna replace with an FX chip but have heard they aint too good, so am now thinking a phenom x6 (yes i prefer AMD as it better suits my style of upgrading which is triageing components) and 8gb of ram. (most my board supports till i upgrade) yes Foxeye thats how i see it too no point spending £1000's on the best gfx/processors etc to play slightly prettier console ports im hoping with the next gen consoles being released soon I will have more reason to justify bigger and better tech.

The 6950 will be a worthwhile upgrade. The 7970 is a little pointless at 1080p and tbh I have never seen much of a difference between the 6950 & 6970.
The HIS is a nice card for £199...
