Honestly £200 is a bit of a no mans land for new GPU's. You either save some money and get a 380/960 or spend a bit more and get a 390/970.
I would recommend send the bit extra and get one the latter (I would say 390 as it seems a bit better all round although the real world performance will be similar enough to not make a difference).

If you wait a week or two we are preparing a 390 of all deals, which will be around £239, the best it can get, but for so much power and 8GB it will be an absolute steal but a one of very limited deal. Cannot say when, just keep checking site daily in about a weeks time.

Damn ! Maybe I shouldn't have got my 290X ... £239 for a good 390 is a steal.
No its about equal; and 390 tends to oc higher core and memory; so it comes out ahead.
390X is faster;
but 239 for 390 awesome deal.....
Surprisingly, it isn't. I think the 390 might even inch ahead in many scenarios. Normally I'd suggest a second hand 290x/970 but at around 239 for a new card the 390 is a no-brainer.
Clock for clock the 290X is faster. The 390 however is clocked fast enough (both core and memory) to mitigate the difference in GCN cores and appears to clock better as well.
390/390X has far better memory optimisation and tuning compared to 290/290X, on the Lightning 290X had such good memory optimisation.

Well the 290x has more stream processors more texture units, lower tdp.
Wait for the gibbo deal though deffo worth it for that price.
