i'm looking to get a 7600GT 256mb DDR3 Graphics Card for £51+VAT

I've seen a 8600GT 256MB 128bit DDR3 for £57+VAT. Is that better? are there any other good options for a PCI-Express card under <£60? I cant strech any more than that.....

This is to go with E4400, 1GB DDR2 and ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA PT880.

If you can strectch to £70 all in (including VAT) then you can get yourself a 1950pro from ocuk :)

7600gt is still a good card though. It has been said that the 8600gt and gts are good overclockers however, but I have no personal experience of this so will wait for others to comment.

If you can't stretch to the x1950pro, then 7600 GT, great card. :)

But whats the point of getting the 7600GT when the 8600GT is just a fraction more expensive. It is faster and will have very nice Image Quality compared to the 7000's series

Didn't know it was faster, i would get the 8600 GT in that case. :)

i'd sell my granny for £10 so i could get the x1950pro. :)

seriously, you'd be mad not to get one at that price. :D

edit: i must pay more attention. missed the post about not being a gamer.... :o

I know there is always something better for a few more £££, goes on and on but, as above, it's really worth getting the x1950pro for £70. A big step up from anything <£60

I see you have an Asrock motherboard. That means that you only have a 4x PCI-E lane so that really changes your options. If you were to use the 7600 or 8500/8600 cards then you'd pay the price with that 4x lane speed. ATI on the other hand is mostly effected at 1x speed and the others (4x, 8x and 16x) are a lot better than Nvidia's cards needs. So the X1950pro is your only option or X1650 but I don't think they are worth it at all. Especially when a X1950pro is £70 inc VAT ;).

I know you say that your not much of a gamer but you'd be throwing your money away using Nvidia on this motherboard.

agreed, only a fool would buy a 7600gt over a 8600gt considering the price difference is next to nothing.
