Best card for £80?

As title, what's the best card for £80? I'm leaning towards the HIS 4850 1024MB. Is there another card worth considering, or one that's better?

PS I've just remembered that I've only got a Seasonic S12 430w PSU. I assume that this will be sufficient to power a 4850 but some reassurance would be nice.

hi my brother has that card and he is happy with it, says he gets 100fps sometimes in warcraft. That psu should be ok unless you have lots of other hardware connected up.

Yes, should be more than enough as it is a "quality" PSU...

About the seam performance as a 4870.
But not sure how much power it takes.

The 4870 can be had for 90 quid, its a tenner over your budget but it may be worth it.

ATI Radeon HD 4830 or the newer 4770 could easily be had for that price. Still great performers for the budget user as they are essentially a gimped 4850.

But seeing as you can get a 4850 for near or slightly over, I'd recommend that and as you already had the HIS one in mind, you could go for that. Though the 1GB memory might be a waste if you don't play at the right resolutions and even then it is more suited towards the higher end cards like the 4870/4890 where it makes more of a difference. The 1 year warranty is another thing too unless it doesn't concern you.

Depending on the specs of your system, your Seasonic S12 430w PSU should still be able to power a 4950. The 4830/4770/4850 cards only use one PCI-E power connection anyways.

That's great, thanks a lot guys. I've placed an order for the HIS 4850, so fingers crossed it all works alright. I've been running a 7600GT for the last couple of years so am tingling with anticipation of the difference!

I wonder if you now have the card what sort of performance gain have you seen? I went for the ASUS x4850 in my old system from x1600 and had very little gain due to mother board being PCIe 1 and the card being PCIe 2.
