Hi guys I have a crappy ECS 650SLi motherboard with 2x PCI-e 8x slots. Due to the poor design of the board even when running just one card the slot will run at 8x. I'm currently running a Q6600 G0 @ 3.0GHz and a 512MB HD3870.
So my question is, whats the best setup I can run here without being wasted on first gen PCI-e 8x slots? I'll be doing a full system upgrade early next year.

Im sure 4670 would work fine, considering the fact that pci-e x8 is pretty much the same as agp 8x (around 2gbytes/s) and the agp card should be out soon.

who knows maybe you could sit a 4770 in there.

Ive read many articles where people insist that g-cards are doing less than pci-e x16 at the moment (i doubt that goes with dual gpu's, but who knows?) as for pci-e x16 2.0, that seems rediculously fast at the moment.

Is this your motherboard? ECS NF650SLIT-A Motherboard

I read that it is pci-e x16 without sli. just in sli mode its x8 x8

you should be able to run one of most graphics cards up to 4890.

But dont do anything on my recommendations.

Single cards will run fine on a x8.

Correct me if im wrong but Graphics card dont use no were near the full x16 yet.
