Im in the progress of upgrading my main machine which i will be moving into the living room and using for gaming and watching HD movie content,i`ve heard that ATI are the better cards for this kind of use on LCD Televisions producing a better quality picture.i was thinking of a 3870XT,is there a better choice for what i want to do as i need speed and quality all in one card, anyone have this kind of setup who can recomend which card to buy.

I don't think there is that much in quality between current gen ATI/nVidia cards......but I do feel that the nVidia cards are currently best 'bang-for-buck' when it comes to gaming power....how about a nice 9600GT ?

i say 3870XT. you get better HDTV capabilities, and it's a touch better than the 9600GT with AA off, but loses out with AA.

what's the budget and resolution?

The budget is £150 ish,and the resolution is 1920x1080 for movies and 1600x900 for games....CHEERS.;)

Fixed :)

8800 GT is probably the best card for price / performance at the moment :)
