So much Graphics card had pretty much kicked the bucket and I'm looking to replace it now until i gather the funds to build and entire new system.

Currently rocking...

GPU: Power Color Radeon HD 4870x2
CPU: Q6600 @3.02GHz
RAM: 2x2GB Corsair Dominator XMS2 DDR2 PC2-8500C5
OS:Windows 7 Service Pack 1
Motherboard: Abit IP35 Pro XE Intel P35
PSU: Corsair TX 650W ATX2.2 SLi Compliant PSU

I'd like to get something on par or with better performance than the 4870x2
for around the £150-£200 mark, is this possible?

Like i say this aging system will be replaced soon, but l'd like to get a new card to tide me over until then.

What would you recommend? Thanks.:)

The card itselft is few generations behind so currently anything in the price range you mentioned will beat it :) Ati 7850 - 7870 should fit the price range nicely GeForce GTX 660 or Ti - if lucky to find - too :)

a Q6600 at 3 ghz will start to bottleneck a 7850 / GTX580 / GTX660 class card
each of these is probably only about 20-30% faster than your current card at the point that it will bottleneck

you can do one of two things; either keep your money in your pocket until you are ready to buy a whole new system, or go balls out and get a decent card now that will work with your new system and just accept that it will be bottlenecked in your current PC (at least this way you won't need to buy a new graphics card when you later upgrade your system)

spending any money on your current system will be a bit of a waste, so buy a GPU to go with your new machine, not this one

I did consider the bottleneck issue but as i stands i can't play any games on my system currently so buying a card that i can use now and then put in my new system, is probably the best option?

Should i stretch the extra few £££ and get a 7950?

Depending on what games you play and you're upgrading your system in the future then a 7950 would be a good choice, a Card that should last a while yet.
