Best card

I'd go for a 7900 GS, one of the OCuk/Galaxy models looks good - and with those Zalman heatsinks they'll overclock well.

Although if you can stretch to 180, the 7900 GTO will eat it for breakfast.

Think of the image quality. I won't touch Nvidia because of it,

Another vote here for the X1800 XT, Its a cracking card :)

Best brute power (for current games)- X1800XT

Best combination of power and silence/low power usage - X1950pro

Best price vs performance - OCUK 7900GS 256mb.

Judging from reviews around the internet the 7900GS overclock like hell and can easily match 7900GT performance without the extra outlay.

However out of the box the X1800XT / X1950pro will have a performance advantage but then again they are more expensive.

Thanks for that as i'm looking for a card for around £150 (ish) so many cards to choose from though!

Connect3D ATI Radeon X1900 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-053-CO)

£170 inc VAT.

And where does that fit in the £140-£150 bracket that the OP stated?

Anyway, I'd go for an X1800XT or X1950Pro as the others mentioned.

Tell me about it. I have the same max budget (well I capped myself to £140) and I am wondering whether a 7900GS/X1950pro is worth it over say a 7600GT (I don't game that much on the pc anymore) although I just can't resist having a new toy to play with.

The 7900GS for £115 is a steal though.

I have no clue on all though the OcUK GeForce 7900 GS 512MB but i've always had ATI cards myself. Having said that anything will be better than my 5 year old Radeon 64mb card.

I just want a card that future proofs myself for a while and able to play the latest games.
