Those are the ones I looked at, now the Xilence XPF120R Red Wing 120mm Quiet Fan looks the best but do those specs look realistic? which fans would you recommend?

Thanks
Willz.

Get the Xilence Redwings, got 5 of them for my P182, put the fan controller on on the motherboard and you can bearly hear it. I have it so then my fans run at 70% when the Mobo is 31> degrees.

Just my two cents.

Might get the Xilence.

Raikiri they still push good airflow ar 20db? 28db is loud, when I put these Tri Cool fans to medium they are quite loud and thats 28db.

As I've said on here probably hundreds of times now most companies lie about their specs (or at least fabricate them). Yate Loon, Nexus and one or two others actually tell the truth.

For example do you really think the Amber is 18db at 1400rpm when the Yate Loon is 28db at 1300rpm? Of course not.

28db is not loud if it's accurate. The only fans I know of that are actually better are the Noctua fans but they're 3 times the price. Sharkoon Silent Eagle 1000 are good, the 2000 are fairly loud.

Don't trust manufacturers' claims when it comes to noise. They all use different testing methods, so you can't compare them to other manufacturers.

Go with Yate Loons. They're cheap, and the motor noise is inaudible at 7V.

The Yate Loons are quiet even at 12V, but undervolting them will make them even quieter. Do you have a fan controller? If not, you could just do a 7V or a 5V mod to the molex connectors to undervolt them.

Also are your intakes and exhausts restrictive? In my experience, once you get fans with quiet motors like the Yate Loons, the sound of rushing air becomes very apparent. If you're up for it, it'd be beneficial to remove the fan guard, at least at the rear of the case.

So on the rear the metal mesh wants to be cut off as seen in this picture: http://hardware.gotfrag.com/files/upload/slapnuts_p182_rear.jpg ? I could do it but it feels like its ruining the case and possible decreasing resale value if I ever want to sell it someday.

InkZ what did you think of the P182 with the 2 stock fans at the top on meidum and high? You thought they were loud? I did was too loud and do the D12SL-12's move more are and still quieter than stock ones?

I have Sharkoon SE 2000's in my case, been very happy with them. If I crank them up the air rushing sound is quite loud, its due to the fan guards and grills.

I have akasa ambers and yate loon the loon are quieter but don't push as much air as the ambers i can tell just putting my hand in front that the amber pushes much more air.

Zalman RC56 (7V) Noiseless Resistor Cable

Opted for this to 7v my fans...

Quite cheap (Google them) & even decided to keep using stock fans for now :)
