Looking for a decent case for good air cooling / air flow, essentially i bought a fractal define XL which has shown to be disastrous and everything in my PC often overheats to the point that everything starts grinding to a hault

My antec 900 was really good and not that loud for how much was on it, can anyone comment on the antec 1200 perhaps? I want a roomy one as well as it will have a 680 in it etc and a good few har ddrives

Thanks

Haf-x, if you can stand the looks.

I'd look second hand one the members market if you have access as you'll save yourself a lot of cash on a non-electronic item.

the raven, really? doesnt look the best for air flow but i am most likely wrong (hey im the guy who bought the define xl - essentially a sealed box and im surprised it gets hot inside)

it is a good looking case but that really surprises me

Its the way the hardware is mounted and a bank of fans underneath blowing air straight up and out that does it.

Interesting, dam good looking case, will have to look at some reviews, my main concern would be how ugly it is plugging everything in at the top - and how accomodating the case it

Watch ttl's review, the cables at the top are hidden by the big shroud, they route along the top and out the back of the top.

The airflow is good because of the orientation of the case and the 3 air penetrator fans blowing up at the components.

ocuk sells the newer version.

That raven one is nice, but i must say even prettier is the FT02 (again made by silverstone?) and it seems to score pretty much top or second on every temp test reviewers throw at it

If it's worth it i would pay the extra, anyone got an FT02 that could comment on noise?

Had a FT02 for the last 18 months, the ap fans are running on the slow speed setting & the case is very quiet also the running temps low too.

Best air cooled case in my opinion & I have had more than a few cases over the years.

Installed a GTX 680 in the machine last monday night, was playing wow last night for around a couple of hours & the 680 was running at around 35 degrees c, the room temperature was around 22 degrees c.

The GTX580 that was in my FT02 used to sit at around 60 degrees c while playing wow, got the FT02 sitting on a wooden plinth which is about 75mm off the floor, so its pulling in the coolest air into the case.

Yes there is some fan noise coming from the case but it does not sound like a jet engine like some of the other cases do.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Thanks for all the advice - have bought an FT02 with the Ap181s + usb 3.0

Should turn up tomorrow and will get everything moved into it in time for the new 680's arrival

very happy bunny
