best case for aircooling?

Let me be the first of many to say the Akasa Eclipse will almost certainly be the best bet.
But it depends on your budget, how much you looking at paying?

Eclipse then, get a nice pair of Akasa Amber fans to go in it and it will cool anything you put in there without too much noise :D

I would get the Eclipse with 2x Yate Loon or Nexus fans, possibly sharkoon 1000 or Scythe S-flex if you can't get the Yate Loons.

Really?

I'd have thought the stacker would have some of the best cooling... given that you can put something like 8 or 9 120mm fans in it

The Silverstones are always good for air cooling - especially the TJ09 and TJ07 - but they're around the £200 mark

Amount of fans != cooling capacity. The Eclipse offers the best cooling/noise ratio and will easily cool any system (quad core, dual 8800 etc.)

call me old fashioned, but i've been looking at the eclipse. and my god it's butt ugly.

are there any cases nearly as good, with prettier noses ?

i spend too much time playing games to mod the case really. and me dad pinched me dremel!

i certainly like the looks of the 900. And i hear the cooling is very good.

what's the clearance like for the BIG coolers ?

The Akasa Eclipse absolutely crushes the Antec 900 for air cooling. Don't confuse lots of fans with good air cooling. The Antec is a disaster of a case - and it's tiny inside too.

The 900 could do with a motherboard tray though and the drive bays can be a pain in the *** securing HD's

The Antec looks crap, has too much plasticcyness, and too many fans.

The Akasa is simply stunning in its simplicity, and is abslutely colossal inside.

If your motherboard uses the top most slot your graphics card won't fit in the 900, cable management is also really difficult and the build quality isn't as good as the Eclipse.

The Eclipse has been used for years and proven to be a very good case, theres loads of room and build quality is very good. Cooling will match the 900 in most situations with less fans and it doesn't look too bad (you got possibly the worse picture ever?)

I know which one I would choose.

Really bad Eclipse picture you picked there....

Here's mine, there so much nicer in the flesh. (that's my old setup in there btw, haven't got any newer pics)

Would take an Eclipse over a 900 any day of the week.

all the "nice" pictures of the eclipse are so dark you cant see it ! lol ( just the way i'd like it )

saying which one is nicer is just down to personal prefrence really same as everything

the antec does have a few flaws cable management being the biggest i havent owned an eclipse so i cant really say anything bad about it just i think it looks very dull.

i'll have to get some pics of mine up here :D

Please remove your personal attack. It's un-necessary. If you have to resort to name-calling you've already lost the argument.

As for what they look like, the thread title is 'best case for aircooling'. That is the Eclipse I'm very glad to say. I've tested both properly and the Antec has very poor cooling in comparison to the Eclipse, especially for a case with that many fans in it.
