nero doesnt support my pioneer dvdr even for cdr duties, windows xp doesnt either, i have to use CdBurnerXPro3 which is ok, however when i burn wav files it will only do it one track at a time, so it takes 2 mins per track

As you can imagine this is a bit slow.

any others ? do any convert from mp3 to wav beforehand ?

Something is funny then, what drive? What version of Nero? I've had Pioneer 104, 105, 106, 107, 109, 111, 112 and all have been supported in Nero. Have you used the drop down box in Nero, sometimes it deselects the drive. Have you flashed the drive in the past, has it reverted to kernal mode? (look on rpc forums for more info)

not flashed anything, vanilla xp pro install.

only registry had dvd drive set to 3 instead of 2 because it didnt find it as a burner just a ROM drive.

but in DM it comes up as full name :

Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-111D SCSI cdrom device

but lists it as DVD rom and not DVDR

and its not an scsi drive its an ide connected via ide....
grrr

eracer2006:

You could also try unistalling the Pioneer DVD rewriter in "DVD/CD-rom drives" in Device Manager, by right clicking it, and selecting Uninstall, ok etc, then reboot and this will reinstall the drivers for it, if that doesn't rectify it, do the same with the IDE channel that it is on, simply right click->Uninstall OK etc and reboot, this will reinstall the drivers for the IDE channel.

u may need to instal aspi drivers ?

No you don't, Nero has it's own ASPI layer. There is nothing wrong with hardware/software matching the OP, something is "broke" as I've used the same config myself (as long as he's not using a really early version of Nero)

Could try flashing motherboard BIOS whilst you're at it.
