I'm most probably going to be getting a PS3 within a week and as I understand it comes with no way to connect for HD res out of the box, so what is the best but cheapest HDMI cable for this. Thanks.

Any HDMI cable will do really, you could go for gold plated but that's just personal preference.

It's been proven time and time again that the Cost of an HDMI cable has no relation to who good it performs.

Save yourself some cash and spend no more than £10 :)

Just get whichever the cheapest cable is that you can find, manufacturer shouldn't make any difference.

Think mine cost <£5 from eBay.

ive read theres not really such thing as a "good" hdmi cable as its a digital cable.. so get the cheapest one you can find as they are all the same. i got one for ~£8

Sorry I wrote this quickly before my dinner I meant to just ask for a trusted brand cable, because my cousins who know very little technical details and are young and get their parents to buy everything ended up with a **** HDMI cable (a clear blue one at that) and the end of it was falling apart and had to be jiggled to get it working. I already knew that as a HDMI cable is digital it just works or doesn't work, no in between, I just wanted to know if there was a general cheap one that everyone recommended. I guess it's just any old one within reason will do. Thanks.

I got a Plexus one from an online retailer the other day for a fiver. Got two in fact; one as a spare :)

Gold plated connectors too, and I've had no problems with them ever since

you just need to make sure you spend enough to get one with good build quality

some of the really cheap ones (£1 etc..) feel like they're going to fall apart

but anything more than about £10 is a waste. I got an £8 one from one of the channel island internet shops, gold plated, really well put together and with neat braiding all round the cable. Big good quality chunky connectors too.
