a core2quad q6600 would work on that board so if you could pick up a second hand one cheap that would be a nice upgrade and maybe a 9800 gt or radeon 4850 or 5750 gfx card for some gaming

If your getting an upgrade itch then may i suggest:
Cpu: i3 530
Mobo: Gigbyte P55M-UD2
Ram: G Skill Ripjaw
Graphics: Asus 5770

Comes to £391. Maybe a little overpowered for surfing...

I would replace the E6300 with a Q6600.

I would also get an HD4670,HD5670 or a 9800GT if you are only doing some light gaming:

What games are you playing mate?

I would say for a surfing, downloading and light gaming machine you seem to already have a great machine for that!!

If you really need to spend money I would get a 5770 or 5830 in there. You may or may not "need" a quad depeding on the games.
