So as I child I only had access to street fighter 2 on the snes. Which I loved it set my expectations very highly and was a game I enjoyed so much.

Then came mortal kombat. I had this on my game boy but it wasn't the sane as my mates md version which seemed good too.

Then came along my psx abd tekken 2. Omg this was amazing too

and now I have ssf2t hd remix, mk arcade kombat k9llection. And tekken 6 and I had sfiv

but you know what I never had kof in my youth but actually I find kof superior to all those above.

1. Kof 98/02
2. Tekken (3/5/6)
3. Street fighter 2 (super hd/sf2turbo)
4. Soul caliber 4
5. MK2
6. Battle arena toshinden

kof seems to be more fluid and supple in its engine offering a unique blend of sf+tekken but all in 2d.

What's your fave and why.

Killer Instinct on the snes.

Was the first combo based fighter I had played. In my opinion, it blew mk and street fighter away.

What's the game that had fighters from a few games, such as fighting vipers and possibly Toshinden? It may of been on the Saturn? I forget it's name but I loved that, and bloody roar on the ps1 was pretty damn awesome as well. The main ones growing up were street fighter tournament edition and all the mk's. I remember my mum buying me either mk 2 or 3 for around £55 when it was released!

Now'a days I really can't get into fighting games and get bored of them very easily.

It was called Fighters Megamix, and was indeed a fabulous fighting game, quite possibly my favourite as well.

I generally base this off how much I remember about the game it's usually a good indicator of how much I enjoyed it and how much time I spent playing on it, my top 3:

1: Marvel Super Heroes
2: Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
3: Killer Instinct

Honorable mentions: Mortal Kombat II and Street Fighter II Turbo.

Mortal Kombat 2 for me was the best "old school" beat em up.

The various ways to off your opponent, through fatality, babality and friendship finishers was great.

I also loved Street Fighter 2

Yes mk2 is my favourite mk game as well.

I actually now have kof 98 um for ps2 and kof98 neogeo and I actually prefer the neo geo non 3d backgrounds. Same with 2002 except te music is probably better on the psx version.

I don't know how they fare against other fighting games these days (as I'm probably looking back at them through rose-tinted glasses), but I used to love the Dragonball Z games on the SNES (like Hyper Dimension and Super Butouden). Don't think I've spent so much time on fighting games outside of Mugen and the old Dead or Alives :p

I used to love beat 'em up's as a kid, can't play them these days.
For me i played to death the first three Mortal Kombat's, street fighter 2, Killer Instinct and Turtles Tournament Fighters on the Snes.

There's was nothing more satisfying that doing an Ultra Combo in Killer Instinct.

Tekken 2 is probably the fighting game I put most time into, along with Tekken and Tekken 3.

Street Fighter 2 CE would be following closely behind though.

No fighting games grab my attention these days, I find them dull.
