so what is ffdshow tryouts? i thought ffdshow is a codec pack?

just googled ffdshow tryouts, they contains all sort of codecs.......that would be......codec pack? lol

It's not really a codec pack, it's more like a universal codec. ffdshow will only install a couple of filters, which are able to decode pretty much anything you are likely to come across. Regular codec packs would install hundreds of filters to do the same job. It's much less messy if you need to uninstall it or update it. Also means you don't have filters for formats you will never use cluttering up your system.
