Best connection for my projector - component 480p versus VGA?

Been thinking about the best way to hook my projector up... I can either use a media PC for DVDs using the VGA cable, or I can use a 480p component signal from a suitable DVD player... what's going to give the best picture?

I've heard a well setup HTPC should be better than a several hundred pound DVD player?

The HTPC has the potential to poop over just about any DVD player

Get Theatertek and use ffdshow to scale to the projectors native resolution

HTPC all the way imo but just to throw a spanner in the works you can get Component to VGA cables which you can use with progressive scan sources.
