Best console and games for 8-12 year old groups?

Hi All,

I volunteer at a local youth group and as I recently got a small payout I am going to buy either a PS4 or Xbox One to replace the PS2... (we do have an Xbox 360 so it isn't too bad).

I'm thinking the Xbox One but which is the best for young players?

Also, as I don't own either of them... what low age rating games are worth a pickup? The PS2 ran Buzz Jungle Party which was surprisingly popular! (I might actually look for a cheap second hand TV and keep all three).

Based on a quick look round some second hand shops at the weekend it is looking like the PS4 has more age appropriate games available for it?
 
Any of the Lego games (which are multi platform) also you can get great buys on some of the older toys to life games such as Skylanders / Disney infinity which my kids still love and play.

Oh and obviously minecraft *shudders*

its a shame i don't have 400 more post or i could have sold you my absolutely mint (boxed, possible 25 hours use) PS4 and your near to me
