Best controller for emulators & some pc games?

I was looking at the 360 controller, i have 2 wireless ones already for my 360 but think it might be better to try for a wired one for pc? batteries are actually a pain with these controllers

or are there any better ones?

btw, can rumble be turned on/off at all? or does it only work with windows games anyway?

So i should go for a PS2 pad then?

i was thinking stuff like Zsnes for when i sometimes play mario games online, or the odd few n64/dreamcast games

so really need one with a good dpad and analogue stick

Got the wired 360 pad, tried N64 and works pretty well.. also tried Zsnes but as everybody else said, isnt so good since sometimes it registers as pressing down when pressing right for instance.

Shame there arent any easy ways to fix the dpad on the 360 controller, it also feels a little too far over imo

god i just saw my PS3 controller in the other room on top of my PS3 and realised it uses USB.

Then i searched google and can see you can use it on the PC lol

Best dpad for 2d games? looks like i dont need another controller

360 pad for 3d games + PS3 pad for 2d games?

just need to look for some drivers now
