Best converter?

Morning Gents, i have a Xbox360 Finaly connected to a media PC - everythigns fine IE can view Vids listen to songs etc.. all good..

Only thing is Xbox360 only really likes WMV or MPEG1 files... which one would you say is best to convert a Avi into?

Also *** program is best? I using free converter but it gives me some dodjy frames now and then..

Use transcode and convert them on the fly.

Well im not sure... i listen to a few random tracks yesterday think they where MP3 and WMA - ill check tonight....

Thanks mate. I'm new to this 360 lark. Do I need Media centre to access my main PC?

I'll be running my 360 wirelessly to my router.

Yes and no...

If you want music and pics then you dont need media centre, just connect it all up then on the PC in question go to www.xbox.com/pcsetup and follow the steps. For Video transfer you need MEdia Centre installed. Im new also, only had xbox360 for a week

Dont make the mistake i done and try to put media centre on a old machine took 2 hours to try n register a component then the machine died! Now im dual booting between 64bit and media centre on the comp in my sig works a treat
