as title really, ive just bought into the dual core thing and i hear that even the stock coolers have heatpipes in them  so they must take some cooling

yes, they do use some power

if you want full on air cooling something like a big t/sycthe ninja will keep your temps low down

allough something like a freezer 64 (maybe with an upgraded fan ;)) would be cheaper

how do you change the fan on the silencer then? thats the only thing that was putting me off it actually as i didnt think you could do it

i got a retail 3800x2 from ocuk and it came with the crappy a64 stock cooler without heatpipes!! luckily the chips clocking ability made up for the disappointment.

The stock HSF on most the duel cores is fine if you are running at stock. Im using a sycthe ninja on my 4800 running at 2689 and it idles around 34c and goes up to about 45c under full load (Stock HSF went up to about 55c under load).

Its a great HS but it is MASSIVE so make sure you have enough space in your case to fit that and a 12cm fan attached to it. Also the fan that comes with the Sycthe Ninja is ok but its not the best i have put an Akasa 12cm on there 9the one with blue LEDS in) and while that isnt the best air moving fan around either it does a good enough job for me (and looks cool too :) ).

Oh and like i have said before about the Scythe Ninja, if you get one watch out for your fingers on the edges, especially when you are attaching the fan ;).
