best cooling for under 200?

air or water, need a case and other cooling hardware... cpu cooler gpu cooler, chipset cooler (if applicable?)

thanks :D

With a budget of £200 you could get a decent case and a water cooling kit...but the WC kit won't be very good. Best off getting a decent case with good airflow and a very good CPU cooler.

Maybe Antec P180 and Noctua U12F/Tuniq Tower/Thermalright 120 Extreme.

Other cooling stuff you can purchase as you need them

what do you think of the thermaltake cases with preinstalled wc kits?

My knowledge on watercooling isn't great so ill do my best to help out :p

Best thing to do is to try and find some reviews on the case to see how good it is at cooling your hardware. Having your WC setup crammed into the case may mean sacrifices may have been made, such as a smaller radiator or whatever, which of course has a detrimental effect on cooling. Of course its possible to do it right if you have a big enough case.

Another problem with built in watercooling is that if a part breaks (like the pump) you've gotta source a replacement which could be easy if the placement of the part can easily be replaced by something else. But a mate of mine had a case with built in watercooling and his pump broke down, he was unable to source a replacement pump so ended up having to go back to his stock cooler!

Just wondering, are you planning on pushing your hardware really far? IIf so, save up some money and piece together a really nice WC setup. If not then buy yourself a case with good airflow and a good CPU cooler which in most cases in suitable for whatever you want, even for overclocking.

Well i hope i've helped a little :p

yep thanks :)

im just wanting to oc a q6600 to over 3ghz really perhaps 3.2... but i want it rock solid stable cuz i cnt afford for anything to go rong.

As its a quad core it'll probably be quite hot, and at them speeds you'll definitely want good cooling to keep the temps comfortably low. If you can try and piece together a good WC kit with the help of the forum members :)

lol well i don't really no much about water cooling setups, not sure which parts are good and which are a waste of money etc..

if you really want watercooling and a case for £200 id say your only way would be a case that comes with it althout they aint a hole lot beter than good air cooling tbh

I've got a Lian LI PC7 case and a Q6600 with a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme with a Scythe S-Flex 1600RPM fan..

Mines running stable at 3.2Ghz and the temps are 46oC idle and 58-62 stressed..

Not to wee on your fire but 3.2 with a 2.4 chip isnt going to create much heat as its a small OC

It all depends on the vcore you're pumping through it. Speed increases alone only really increase temps by a few degrees at most. Its vcore that ups temps dramatically.

I was just stating that for £100 he could get the same results as mine..

Im sure all he wanted to know was what he could get for £200 or under.. and that he wanted to overclock it to about 3 to 3.2ghz

** Oh yea I forgot the Quad cores run at the same temps as the C2D.. **

well im running at 3.2 with 1.375 volts anything less and orthos isnt stable

it all depends on your chips requirements as they all vary slightly
