Best cooling pad?

Good evening gentlemen,

laptop temp is running a bit too high for my liking (76-ish under pressure) and the fans are going ape*hit too.

Any idea what the best (17") cooling pad is? Been looking at customer reviews on a certain Amazonian site and most seem to suggest coolers only drop temps about five degrees at the most. Is that true? Not much use to me if so, but hopefully you clevererer folk can tell me otherwise.

How old is your lappy? 76 is way too high, I should imagine you need to give it a spring clean.

Start with well directed compressed air into the vents for each fan.

If that doesn't improve matters, strip down your lappy, clean the CPU and re-apply some Arctic Silver. Also clean the fans and heatsink.

I've had todo that for my last two laptops.

If you want a pad, try the Logitech range.

Not sure I like the idea of tinkering under the hood of my laptop

I'd do a desktop with my eyes closed, but my precious Vaio? Is it fiddly?

Na not massively, if you're in the know. Google about for a disassembly manual for your model, my bet is someone else has done it before.

Or just live with the high temp, but at 75 soon enough you will be getting the random shutdowns which are the hallmark of an overheating laptop.
