Best courier service to send an item?

I'm going to list a vintage analogue spring reverb unit on ebay which is just over 3 foot long by 4 inches wide, shaped like a drainpipe and weighs just under 4Kg. The post office are quoting £23 for parcelforce 48 signed for recorded delivery guaranteed up to £400, which is what this item is worth.

Is this good or are there better cheaper options, but importantly, that guarantee my money back on the value of the item if it gets lost?

I always use APC for things like this.

In 8 years they haven't lost a parcel for us. That's equates to roughly 15,000 parcels.

Never heard of them but I'm sure they're fine. Are they likely to be cheaper than parcelforce?
