Hey, Im looking to OC my phenom x6 1100t BE to around 4ghz but no idea what the best cooler would be for around £50 or less?

I have looked around at reviews and heard the CM Hyper 212 Evo is great for the price but im not sure if it is sufficient for my intended OC. There is nothing better than user experience, can anyone help me out?

Thanks, K

£50 is a bad bad bad cut-off point.

Thermalrigth Silver Arrow SB-E £51.59 is closest.

Others in the £60 range:
Alpenfohn K2 £59.99
Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 2 £61.99 (sorry, I know, £2 more)
Noctua NH-D14 £59.99 but not PWM
Silverstone Heligon SST-HE01 £62.99 (Yeah, I know, £3 more)

The difference between these top coolers and the £40-50 ones is not a lot unless your CPU is real high wattage and/or low max temp. Yours 1100 spec is 125w and 62c max operating temp. 125w isn't a lot but 62c max. operating temp could be an issue if you don't have a good cooler. General rule of thumb is bigger is cooler and quieter... but not always true.

As a comparison my i7 920 spec is 130w and 68c max operating temp... and at 3.55GHz under a Phanteks PH-TC14PE w/ 2x TY-143 fans it was 60c @ 1300rpm. 4GHz was 70c. 22c ambient for above.

Sorry I'm not more helpful.

New Phanteks about same as 212, TS120, etc.
I expect about the same cooling. :)

Phanteks has make itself a good name and is now trying to cover all areas of market... from tiny HTPC all the way up.

Yeah, just figured that it's nice and new, has colour options and two fans included.
Wouldn't expect it to blow anything comparable out of the water :)
