I've just built my new PC, and I am now looking into getting a new heatsink. (Currently I have the stock one)

My budget is about £50 MAX although if one that is considerably better can be found for, say, £55 then that would be OK too.

CPU:
AMD FX 8350

Motherboard:
Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0

Case:
HAF X

Also, if it doesn't come with good thermal paste, what thermal paste would be best?

Thanks

The RAM will fit perfectly, just remember to install your RAM first.
Are you sure you can't spend £5 more? I know I've pushed it by £10 but you won't be disappointed with this heatsink. It's worth it if you save up just a tiny bit more.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Noctua NH-D14 Dual Radiator CPU Cooler (Socket 775 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 / FM1 / FM2) £59.99
Total : £69.89 (includes shipping : £8.25).

Yeah, I think I could push it that little bit more... :D

So much choice!

I think most people would agree the Noctua is the one to go for. I'm not being biased at all because I personally hate the colours lol.
I appreciate the fact that it's a great heat sink in terms of temperature. That is the only reason why I'm recommending it.

It's your choice though

It's equalled or bettered by a more than a few other coolers at the same price. It's very good, but not the default choice :)
There ain't much in it really, so pick the pretty one ;)

Whatever works in yo rig :p

I'd take the black n white one if I wasn't content with a K2.

Btw OP, the thermal paste that comes with most of these should be fine. If in doubt, grab some MX-4 or something.

Best buy at the moment is NH-D14-2011 for £31.98

Grab Mounting Kit NM-I3 - Socket 775/1156/1366 [NM-I3] for £5.99

and some thermal paste of your personal favorite flavor. Thermalright Chill Factor 3 is very good and cheap for £4.99

And for a total of £42.96 you have a NH-D14 with PWM fans that will mount on all Intel CPUs.

Normal NH-D14 dosen't have PWM fans, but NH-D14-2011 has PWM fans. ;)

Add on post and total is £53.46

As much as air coolers can be great and all.. they're hideous and far too big.

Of course this is personal opinion but I'd take a closed loop cooler even if it means a slight loss in performance. I wouldn't fancy having any of these jobbies in my case.

Each to their own mate :)
I like 'em beefy.

Fill her up!
