if you dont mind me asking, why no backplate? as all you would have to do is remove mobo to fit it.

edit. the Scythe Yasya is supposed to be very good, and it has no backplate.

Although the cooler doesn't require a backplate, it was still much easier to install by removing the motherboard first. In terms of performance, it's not particularly great unless you really need a compact cooler. Otherwise, go for the standard recommended tower coolers which have backplate.
Cooler Master TX3 EVO doesn't require a backplate but it depends what kind of performance you are after.
