Hi,

Although I have a nice spanking new raid 0 array and a 4870 card, my core components are 2 years old now, e6600 cpu and intel badaxe MB.

Im going to do a proper rebuild once nehalem has been given time to mature but im thinking of upgrading my cpu now to do me another 6 to 9 months.

What is the best cpu I can fit into this board at moment ?

may as well stick with your e6600 tbh
save your money and overclock it a bit
my e6300 goes to 3.1GHz easily so i should imagine your 6600 would go 3.4+

not to keen on overclocking, I live in portugal now and my room temps are quite abit higher than in the UK, but i could give it a shot i guess

also, how to i unlock the overclocking features in the bios ? they seem to be hidden by default

never mind upon further reading apparently the bios is hardware locked out and i need to short 2 pins on the motherboard to unlock it :(

Yeah, but its very easy, if you can find a conductive ink pen (the type used for testing repairs on PCB's) Just draw across the debug pads on the motherboard, and a ton of options come up.

BadAxe supports all the 65nm Core2's including the quads, but its a poor overclocker for quads, wont go past about 345mhz(1380fsb) without stability issues. But its fine for quads at stock speeds even though they arnt "officially supported. BadAxe 2 officially supports the 65nm quads, and overclocks better.
