best CPU for gaming

worth waiting for AMDs new ryzen 3000 series in a few months ? or that i9 perform well enough ?, 2080ti suitable currently, or any new GPUs on the horizon ?

Budget i could probably save a while longer and try and keep it at around £1000

I hope to use my existing corsair airflow 540 case and hand drives, monitor i think is 1080p iiyama

Thinking on waiting for ryzens new 3000 chips, should be out in a month right ?

current pc is i5 4690k, 16 gb ram, gtx 970

pc will be for gaming and browsing the web only, any reccomendations would be greatly appreciated if i should wait or go now, will the new amd lower intel prices ? thanks for any help

£1000 for what? Just the cpu / mobo / ram?
You won’t get a 2080ti under 1k

if i say just went for cpu mobo and ram now and stick with the 970, would that give me much improvement gaming wise, or better to spread say a £1200 budget over everything and go with like a £300 amd graphics card, i want to notice a good leap over a 970 and i5 4690k, would a 2nd hand 970 go for much on ebay ?

what if i went 2700x, 16 gm ram and mobo, and go for maybe a lesser card, i heard some chat about vega64 ? 1080ti not worth it at this stage ? i will be mainly gaming and browsing internet etc, what about monitors, whats the difference between 1080, 1440p and 4k, any disadvantages, or advantages over these types ? thanks !!

currently have a iiyama 24 inch, at 1080p so i will stick with that for now, i think i will wait on the cpu market a bit, graphics cards i dont think the prices will go down much, cause i head nvidia pretty much are owning it right now

yea i think im going to stick with 1080, im mainly looking forward to this game early next year, i think i may keep saving and see how it plays on this old setup before splashing out, but i definetely want to upgrade to newer parts soon, AMDs new ryzen chips might shake the market up a bit

Im thinking i might get around medium settings, some high ?

yea it seems no time ago, i payed around £400 it was, maybe less for a gtx 970 and that was with 2 free games and at that time it was a top drawer card, now look at the price of 1080 and 2080ti cards, its mad

ok just in from work, what happened at ces, should i go intel now or wait for AMD, when new amd chipsets coming out ?
