Best CPU to pair with a GTX 560 Ti

So my brother has inherited a PC which has an old

ASUS M4A78LT-M LE
AMD Phenom II x4 840
8GB DDR3 1600mhz
GTX 560 Ti

he basically plays the free to play battle royal games but this system isnt cutting the mustered on the Dell 1200p monitor even with dropping the res down to 720p, so i suggested to him to maybe look on eBay for a cheap cpu + mobo bundle as the current RAM, GPU, PSU and HD drives will all be able to be used on this new mobo and cpu bundle.

What CPU would be best to pair with the 560 GPU, im think an i5 Haswell chip....or though i know oddly sometime older cpus seem to be more expensive than slightly newer ones like a kaby or coffee lake chip. Obviously i dont want to suggest a cpu thats too overboard as then the GPU will be the bottle neck, think he has about £50-70 to spend on it. So after something that can maybe do 60fps at 1080p on medium settings, suggestions?
 
There's a G4560(2c4t)/MSI B250m pro gaming 1151 combo for sale in the MM right now, I think that would be suitable for a 560Ti.

I think you're better off upgrading the GPU. You should be able to get a very capable GPU like a GTX 960 (get the 4 GB version) or 970 for that money. Fortunately you can check where the bottleneck lies by running MSI Afterburner.

Sorry, thought you were just looking for just a CPU for that money. I'd imagine something like a 4570 + motherboard might be just about in budget. Not sure you'll be achieving 60fps with that GPU though.

Alternatively, you could look into some second hand Xeons which seem to be flooding the auction sites + a Chinese motherboard designed to run these like a modern gaming setup.

I dunno. That CPU is really really slow.
