Best CPU under £70.. or around that mark? Looking for it to go in an matx form factor as it will be part of a media centre build.

Any recommendations on motherboards also appreciated :)

Got a ASUS M4A785D-M PRO combined with a new AMD Athlon II X3 425, would recommend to anyone, prices have risen since my purchase but for I got change from £100 as a ball park figure, board purchased from OcUK and chip purchased from elsewhere . . .

The AMD Phenom II x2 550 mentioned by Tip Top is a good buy at the mo for a budget pocket.

It's a Black Edition so the multiplier is unlocked and with the right MOBO and processor you may be able to unlock the other 2 cores and get yourself a cheap quad core as well.

If your new to overclocking using the AMD Overdrive software, with a 790x chipset MOBO like the ASUS M4A79XTD EVO, will get you a easy overclock as well.

PS. thinking of the above mentioned processor or a AMD Phenom II x3 720 to power a media system....but don't tell the wife!!!!....lol
