I have around £250 to spend on a digital compact camera.
so as title what is the best digital compact camera around?
It must be able to take great photos indoors and outside as well.
Must have a large lcd screen and fairly easy to use,at least 6 mega pixels and
one that produces little or no red eye with indoor shots.
It has to be a compact digital camera that will fit into a pocket otherwise it will
be left at home and hardly ever get used!
Looking to buy one in the next few weeks so any recommendations would be
much appreciated.

thanks in advance.

Can be had for £135 inc delivery at the moment if you know wher to look.

give the best reviews

It is often better to buy a camera from a manufacturer that produced top quality cameras when they were "film driven"

Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Fuji produced good film cameras which could be used in the Artic, the Attic and the Tropics. My AE1 has never let me down.

I bought A canon powershot A70 in October 2003 (long since time expired), it has manual, program, speed and aperature priority (and a host of others).

Sony produced jog-proof CD players which worked provided your feet didn't hit the ground more than 180 times a minute!!!

Canon arguably produced some of the best film cameras, A1, AE1 and still have a resale value after 27 years.

My only question when I go to upgrade will be which Canon shall I buy!

dpreview have some user forums too. well worth a look and one of the camera reviewers Simmon Joinson really knows what he's taling about, with often 23 pages reviewing ONE camera.

What does everyone think of the Ricoh Caplio R4... It's small (enough), 7.1x optical zoom, image stabilisation... Does alright in DP review (a few complaints but many happy people).

I think I need to find some way to have a play with one.
