Hi and sorry for all the non londoners...

I'm looking for good kebabs and doner in london. Coming from Paris, where I know some real gems, I've been soooooo disappointed by most of the kebabs shop here. The meat is bland and too salty, the wrap is dry, the sauces are not tasty at all

Is there any good quality here ? I mean, they are all good at 2am with 6 pints in the belly, but I'm looking for one that is really nice, objectively :)

Selims in Sydenham takes some beating. Kaplan's in Beckenham is pretty good as long as you don't mind risking a nasty beating from pub thugs. Kebab Ye at the other end of the high street is ok but a bit greasy, doesn't bother me, but I have consistently walked out of there with all my teeth, no glass in my face and no bruises :)

Woody Grill in Camden is awesome :D

Woody Grill does a good doner wrap/tortilla, very true.

The Golden Grill in Camberwell was my favourite though when I was a student.

The other good place I remember is the Bosphorus in South Ken.

Either of the two on North End Road.

I was just coming here to post this; a proper ocakbasi, doner is superb, huge, great value for money and proper lamb stacked up, no elephants leg here plus they have a bread oven on site that makes amazing bread. Their shish is cooked on a big, smoking charcoal grill and is brilliant. Get some halem & sujuk (charcoal grilled haloumi and garlic sausage) that for £3.50 comes with a huge amazing focaccia/flatbread type bread fresh from the oven that I could eat all day.

This place is the real deal, the only other one I have heard of being as good is Stoke Newington way (on Green Lanes I think?)

OK guys just tried Best Mangal. It's a little bit pricey but it's good!

Thanks for the address :)

Glad you enjoyed it.

Their shish kebabds are where they excel imo. Eat in there one night, the pide (fresh turkish bread) is like nothing else.

I usually have some hummus, pide & grilled livers to start, followed by a shish kebab with a russian salad for the main. All washed down with loads of Efes or whatver decent Turkish red they have in. Mint tea for afters, possibly with some baklava or rice pudding.
