Best driver for HD 4870?

Whats the best driver for the ATI HD 4870 gcard

I'm using the latest driver: the "9-8_xp64" and it's just no good. I work in 3d and have some issues int he viewport where screen suddenly freezes and I have to reboot.

I'm just looking for another one that you 4870 owners find good and stable
