I need to spec up a modem router for the boss at home, she has a business line and the supplied Cisco kit is awful for Wi-Fi, the supplier has offered as DSL-AC68U, but from personal experience I know how bad these can be.

So looking for an alternative all in one unit, that will good Wi-Fi - obviously the supplier is paying so I do not want to get silly with asking for a £300 router, but something similarly priced as the Asus should do approximately £130/150.

I like the TP Link stuff - great devices, however I found them limited when it came to reporting.

I've not got much experience with other brands.

Thank you all.

What Cisco router is it?

You'd probably be better keeping the Cisco router and just getting a separate Wifi Access point

I honestly can't remember the specs or model number, but its as big as a switch so a smaller unit for home is proffered, I think an all in one would take up much less room, the supplier has said a budget of upto £200 is being allowed.

You seem to have slightly contradictory requirements, best WiFi performance is going to be had by using an AP, not an AIO which is inherently compromised in both design and placement.

I have to agree with @Armageus and @Avalon - the ISP has given you an excellent router and I'd be looking to add an access point to it rather than replace the Cisco device. Unifi UAP-FlexHD would be a great choice.

Thanks all, issue was that the device for home requires access by all, via wifi - The cicso kit has poor wifi - throughput of around 25Mbps even when stood next to the thing, whereas ethernet it runs at an acceptable 55/65Mbps dependant on time of day.

The want for an all in one unit is due to the poor wifi performance of the cisco kit. The provider is offering to change the kit for an all in one unit, but I need something that is good enough for home usage, it doesn't need to give me the bells and whistles, just solid performance with Wi-Fi and keeping a stable connection.
