Well basically i go out with my friends a lot to do photography (both have nikon d3000) and i am looking to get into photography too (i also do creative media production at college) my problem is that i have no idea what to get.

to start i have a budget of about £300 maximum.
what i need:
.to be able to record
.take photos (obviously)

i don't really know much else about cameras yet so i don't know what features i need.

i have looked at the cannon eos 1000d xs rebel and thats about it.

All modern DSLRs take great photos and have sufficient features for a begginer. If your friends have Nikon slrs then you should also buy a Nikon DSLR so you can share lenses and they can help you with any problems.

Nikon d3100 with lens is just about on budget. Buying from honk kong should make things cheaper.

I second D.P's advice regarding going Nikon (even though I'm a Canon man) sharing and access to more/better lenses they have is a big bonus!
