My DVD player just died so looking for a new one, wondering which is the best for around £50, mainly after picture quality over features.

Looks like a good player but have seen lots of complaints about picture freeze.
The philips dvd players are known to be excellent.
Last year I bought a DVP5960 which has front usb (which can even play divx/xvid), hdmi and 1080i upscaling, also multi region. It's so far been very reliable having used it a lot for dvd and usb (videos+photos) use.
You should look into their latest models as I think that one is probably now discontinued.

Ended up getting the Phillips 3890 which is so far pretty good.
